For me, a great teacher must be kind, shouldn’t give a lot of homework, and make his/her
lessons interesting.He/she shouldn’t shout when someone has made a mistake. He/she should just tell him/her what they did wrong.Teachers must listen to their students too.
If a teacher does all these things, they’re a great teacher.
Teaching for me is something very important in our lives. It means getting useful knowledge, it makes us clever people, we learn how to survive in the world, it helps us to have a better life in the future and we need to go to school in order to enter University.
The video was great! It was educational. The way that the teacher spoke was fun but pleasant to hear because I wasn’t tired to hear him at all. All the responses from the video that I saw by the children were different. To hear all these responses made me think differently than I thought till now about what makes a good teacher the best.
For me a good teacher should be characterized with these words: calm, patient, creative, organized, motivator and a role model. To be a teacher also means that he/she has to hear what the children say, their opinions, and make the lessons more interesting by finding other ways to teach us.
Our educational system is perfect!! I couldn’t find things to change in the Greek educational system but the only thing that came to my mind was that there is no need to have a book in PE. I don’t think we need a book. The only things we need are a yard to exercise and our teacher.
I don’t think that I will be a teacher in the future. To be a teacher is a nice job because you help children learn and discover our world and the universe but I think that I’m not fit to be a teacher and that there are other jobs that suit me better. Until now I don’t want to be one but no one knows what the future holds for me.
Teaching is very important for every kid. I believe when children are at school, they learn subjects like History, discuss things like bullying, work together for assignments and more. So, for me, teaching means more things than learning English, History, Religious Matters and more.
Everything that I heard from the video was perfect and I totally agree with them. Some of them seemed to be a bit silly but they all had an amazing meaning.
In my opinion a teacher has to be patient and be sure that every student understood the lesson. He also has to know the possibilities of each student in the class. He has to be polite with them too. Finally, he has to be creative and organize activities from which children can learn.
In the Greek educational system, teachers should listen to the students and understand that they are all trying to do their homework but it is difficult for them. Teachers should also help students and suggest to parents ways for the children to get better at lessons.
A teacher is not just a person who teaches. He is also a person who supports children in all the situations, a politician, a coach, a philosopher and more. So, I don’t believe that I would consider being a teacher because I don’t think that I can be all of these things.
What makes a good teacher great?
Teaching is really important for children. My opinion about teaching is that if you don’t learn the things at school, then you won’t succeed to your job. The video was about a question that was asked to students. The question was ‘’ what makes a good teacher great?’’. When I heard the answers, at the beginning, I thought they were silly. But the person who spoke on the video gave reasons about all the answers and he gave me the chance to think how true they were.
A good teacher must be patient and wait for his/her students to finish the exercises. He/she must also be helpful, kind and polite to them. In the Greek education system, I wouldn’t change something except from the breaks we have. I think that their duration is not as long as it should be. If you ask me I love being with kids and I think that it would be great to teach them. But, I have a goal in my life, to become a doctor. So I don’t consider of being a teacher.
What makes a good teacher
To my mind, teaching is a great profession since it involves educating children. For this reason, not all people can be teachers.
An effective teacher should have a lot of qualities. First of all, he/she should be knowledgeable. That means that he should be an expert in his field. He should also be well prepared for his/her lesson and have a plan for what he wants to teach. I also think that he/she should explain ideas in simple ways using a lot of visual aids so that students understand more easily. A good teacher must be patient and let his/her students make mistakes. We all know that we learn through our mistakes . Another quality of an effective teacher is to believe in his/her students. Then he/she can motivate them and push them to do their best. Also, I think that a great teacher should have a good sense of humor, so that the lessons can be interesting and fun. Finally, he/she should be a mentor and a good example. This way all students can have a person to look up to.
In Greece, teachers most of the times assign a lot of homework to their students and push them to learn everything by heart and that makes them very bored and uninterested. I feel lucky that my school has a lot of teachers that are interested in their students, and use a variety of visual aids to make the lessons more interesting.
I don’t consider myself being a teacher in the future because I don’t think I have the qualities for that job.
Teaching means a lot to me. It means helping all students succeed, It means helping students want to learn. It also means giving students a reason to want to come to school each day which is something very important.
A good teacher plays an important role in a student’s life because he/she is an example to follow. So a good teacher should have a lot of qualities. One of them is to listen to the student well. He /she must listen to the student’s opinion and discuss it. Additionally, a teacher should have patience in order not to panic the students in difficult situations as an earthquake. A teacher should fill the classroom with positivity too.
I think that we shouldn’t change something in Greek schools. The only thing that maybe we should change is that students must be taught about technology right from the early years of their education so that it does not come like an alien thing in their later times .
I believe that everyone can become a teacher if they want to. I would like to become a teacher because I love children and I have the passion to change the children’s future. Passion for changing the world should be the most important reason to become a teacher.
I agree with everything the video said. But with the statement (A great teacher understands that they have a life outside the school) I agree more because teachers should not assign so much homework so that students have free time for playing, doing their hobbies, having fun with their friends and with their family etc.

For me, teaching is when the teacher tells us to do some exercises from the book that will not help in the future and after that we have to find the correct answer. And we do this over and over again, so we waste our time. It’s like working with no reward.
I agree with everything that he says in the video. He’s right. Teachers shouldn’t teach us different parts of different things (bike, car etc.) or the history of something.
In my opinion, a great teacher is when she combines fun with learning, she’s not bored, she cares about the future of her children and her children understand her. It’s also when she tells us to do an exercise with our classmates and we can work in teams.
In the Greek educational system we should change how long we are in school because scientists say that a brain can’t learn or remember anything before 10 o’ clock. We should change the books. We can take out the useless information and we can add more practical and useful information. For example, we should add more lessons, about jobs and things like that. Last but not least, we should change the system in high schools. Depending on what children want to be and learn in the future they will go to the perfect high school for them.
I would not consider myself being a teacher because you have to watch many kids.
Teaching is a very important resource of for having a successful future. Teaching means a lot to me. Through teaching you educate yourself for your future, you learn many useful and important skills for your life. For these reasons being a teacher is not an easy job.
A good teacher is more than a teacher. He/She has to have many qualities for example: being patient and trusting her or his students, being friendly and approachable which will help making the student comfortable and safe. Also a teacher must be a good example. Because we spent most of our day with them so we might as well look up to them. Another quality that makes a good teacher is being flexible with their teaching. What I mean is that the teacher can have different ways to teach like: quizzes, videos etc.
Our educational system in Greece is fine but if I could change something I would want students to learn about technology from the beginning because after all technology has become really useful.
When I grow up I want to be a teacher. I’ve always wanted it to. I love children and teaching them new important things although a teacher is much more than that, so I’m not sure If would consider myself as a teacher in the future.
Teaching means a lot to me, because at school children learn many important things that prepare them for their future that usually holds universities and jobs. At schools we learn Physics, Geography, Language, we learn how to behave and socialize. Furthermore we work in groups, do assignments and use different subjects to extend our knowledge.
Personally I agree with what is heard in the video and I also liked it very much. I liked that it didn’t make me tired and in fact, I didn’t want it to end. Every point in the video had its own meaning, even all the silly ones. After I watched it some facts in my opinion about “What makes a good teacher” changed.
In my view, a good teacher is a lot of things. They are creative, a role model, patient, event planner, always kind with their students and helpful. Good teachers are funny and do silly things if they have to for their students. They listen to what kids have to say and respect that they have a life outside school. This kind of teacher doesn’t give a lot of homework to children because she/he prefers to work more in class. A good teacher is always prepared and makes the lesson interesting by using different methods of teaching but she/he makes the lesson simple for students, in other words, because the teacher is knowledgeable about a subject, it doesn’t mean that the students know everything about it too. Another quality would be that she/he believes in her children and pushes them to do better. To sum up if I had to characterize a good teacher with one phrase, it would be someone who thinks like a kid but acts like an adult.
In Greek educational system I would surely change some things. First of all I wouldn’t put schools in different categories. In other words we have some schools that are old buildings with no different educational methods for kids and no proper use of technology. Then we have other schools with new buildings, many facilities, events, school clubs, different educational methods that include technology etc. In conclusion I would upgrade all schools and as a result, education would be interesting for all children. Secondly in high schools I would let students choose some of their lessons and have more options for them, specifically let the student learn what interests him/her most.
I don’t consider myself a teacher in the future because I don’t think that job suits me. I like children but I don’t think I would have the patience this job needs. All in all you never know what life holds for you.
For me, teaching is an activity that teachers do every day in the classroom or virtual classroom for students to learn new things. Teaching can take place by explaining the lesson and then do a quiz, by a power point that has the topics from the lesson, with online books and many more.
I personally agree with everything in the video. I liked how the teacher spoke in the video. It was an interesting and funny video. Another funny thing that I liked was the part when the teacher said how he would learn how to ride a bike in classroom.
A great teacher is accessible, enthusiastic and caring. This is the teacher to whom students know they can go with any problems or anxiety or even to share a funny story. Good teachers listen to their students.
In my opinion the thing that the Greek educational system needs to change are the three-month grades in primary school. We don’t need to judge someone from their grades because you don’t know in what condition this person is. We come to school to learn, to have fun and not to be in depression because of the bad grades.
I think that I could be a teacher because I don’t let others control me (except my parents and my teachers) and I know when to focus to the lesson and when to make jokes.
I believe that teachers are not just teachers. A teacher is not only the person who teaches you and helps you learn new things, they are your family. I heard all the responses and they made me think differently about what makes a good teacher great. In my opinion a teacher is funny, creative, careful, open-minded, clever, helpful, positive, calm and organized. Our educational system is great! All the lessons are important but I agree with Georgia, we don’t need a book in PE. However, I don’t think that I will become a teacher in the future. It’s a very nice job with many advantages like helping children to learn, but I don’t think that this job is for me. The truth is that I don’t want to a be a teacher when I grow up, but we never know!
I think teaching is important for everyone. Children need to focus on school because it’s important, but sometimes they can’t because of their teacher. In order to focus you need to have a great teacher. A great teacher for me is a person that cares and helps you to understand everything. A great teacher is a teacher that not only teaches well, but also is funny and makes you smile. I believe that the Greek education system is really good but one thing that needs to change is English. In our school we are doing English everyday but in other schools English is not one of the main subjects. I think this needs to change. I would consider myself being a teacher in the future because I like making children happy and teaching them in a way they can understand everything and have fun.
In my opinion teaching is when a teacher is trying to transmit knowledge to a student.
I agree with everything in the video because it’s very important and it also gives a very good message to teachers. Children want from their teachers to think like them, but act like adults, be calm, protect the children, and keep them safe. But most of all to inspire them with their work and help them understand that learning is important.
In my opinion the great teacher not only has to hear the children, but also listen to them, have fun with them, leave them free time to play. A teacher needs to be kind and polite and not to give students a lot of homework. The greatest of all about a teacher is that he/she makes the lesson amusing by using teamwork and power points.
In the Greek educational system I would change the time that we can express our opinion about what we do in class and that we are not allowed to run in the backyard to play when we have a break because it is for our safety. I disagree with this because inthe same way, adults should not be allowed to drive cars because they might have an accident.
I don’t consider myself to be a teacher because I am very strict. I can say it also because it’s not in my priorities because I want to be something else like a writer because I like to write novels, an actor or a singer because I want to be famous, a sea explorer because I like to see animals and write about them and many more…
For me teaching is not just at schools, but everywhere. In my life there are many teachers like, my teachers at school, my dance teachers,my parents and even myself because sometimes I have to learn things on my own.Well, when I hear the word ʻʻteachingʼʼI think of school but I realized that is not just that.I didn’t learn how to dance from school and I didn’t learn how to speak from school.I learned how to dance from my dance teachers and I learned how to speak from my parents.
In the video, I saw good pieces of advices that a person can understand after a lot of thought.For example, when a student said ʻʻA great teacher eats applesʼʼ, I didn’t understand anything.I thought that maybe this student likes apples so he/she wants the teachers eat apples because of that.But then, I heard the explanation of the expert and I was a bit shocked because I couldn’t think like that.Watching the other responses, I changed the way I think about the best teacher!
In my opinion,a great teacher is someone who teaches with his/her heart and not someone who does this job, just for the money. . Hopefully, I haven’t had a ‘ʻbad teacher’’ yet. All the teachers that I had were caring and kind and that’s why I love them (even if I don’t say it). However, I think that most of them don’t understand that we have lives out of the school! ! It’s okay to put us homework but it’s not okay to put us too much homework and in a short time. For example, we have to do (5)five photocopies and an essay in one day (maybe I’m little bit extreme but I think you get the meaning).And the thing is that if you go the next day to school and say that you haven’t done the homework they would say that you are lazy and maybe they would call your parents which is the worst thing to do,because they don’t let you speak or they listen to you but they don’t pay attention to what you said. And in fact, their job is to listen to the children. That’s why I want my teachers to be understanding. Another thing I don’t like to the teachers is when they don’t believe in you and they ask your parents for everything you do.This shows to the children that you don’t trust them and makes them feel stress. . But if you show that you trust them, they wouldn’t be afraid of making mistakes and they would do new things and the lesson would be more interesting, because you would teach the children new things. For me, a teacher should be organized and know what to teach and not ‘ʻbe in a hurryʼʼ so he/she will be sure that he/she won’t leave the children with questions. If a teacher does all these, he/she would be perfect!
Fortunately, in Greek education system we have more things to learn than other countries.So,I wouldn’t change a lot of things.First of all I would like teachers be more creative and not just do whatever the book says.Also, I would like the breaks be larger.We deserve something more…. And finally,I would like to have lockers.Don’t ask me why,I just love them.
My dream job is to be a teacher,but not at school.I love dancing ever since I was young, so I want to be a dance teacher.NOT a dancer!!It’s completely different.I would like to have my own dance school and teach kids/adults how to dance and how to love dancing!!
WHAT MAKES A TEACHER GREAT?
Teachers have always played an important role in our lives so far. Some of them will be remembered for years to come, some will be forgotten. But what makes a teacher great?
To begin with, one of the most important qualities a good teacher should have, is to be patient and show sympathy. As a result, students can trust him or her and learn through their mistakes. They will feel they always have someone to talk to if they can’t do it at home or with friends.
In addition, the role of a teacher is important not only in the classroom but also in society. That means , teachers educate youngsters so that they can become responsible and independent adults. In my opinion, a good teacher should inspire students. In other words, good teachers should set the example. This way , children will try to do their best to achieve their goals and succeed in life.
Moreover, they have to be motivating, use various teaching methods, be cheerful and ready to make every single lesson a new adventure for their learners. This way , no lesson will be boring.
From my point of view, Greek educational system needs a lot of changes. School subjects should be added , teaching methods should be changed and new modern eco friendly buildings should be provided by the government.
All in all a teacher must be helpful and try to expand the students’ knowledge by giving them important tips to survive in today’s living conditions.
